 Hello and welcome to my website. I'm Merryl Bustin, the highlandwoodcarver! What a wonderful hobby wood carving is. I sure hope each of you try it once. You will amaze yourself just how easy and simple it can be. Let loose that creative side of your brain and start making chips!
So where does the "highland" come into this? Well, I happen to be situated in beautiful and world famous Cape Breton Island, in the province of Nova Scotia, on the east coast of Canada. Our topography, and actually our heritage and culture, is not unlike that found in Scotland. Most folks here can trace their lineage back to the Highland Scots from one clan or another. But enough history - lets talk about woodcarving.

This venture onto the web is brand new to me, and more than a little intimidating. So, I'm learning as I go along, making lots of mistakes - just like learning to carve wood.
